Chocolate Modak Recipe
Ganpati Bappa Moriya
Ganesha is the most loved God
On account of a cooking competition, Ganesha has come visiting a month early to my home. Actually, He couldn’t resist the Chocolate Modaks I made today. And I am blessed to be offering Him this innovative Chocolate Modak. Ganesha is one of the most popular of Gods, in India and the innovative sculptures every year are amazing. Our Gods are not only Earthly they are also contemporary; you can see Ganesh idols holding a mobile phone or riding a bike. I decided to make a modern Modak for this modern and much loved Ganesha. Therefore, I made these No-Cook Chocolate Modak.
Legend of the Modak
We all know the legend of the Modak but let me relate it again; The legend goes that, in the first place, Goddess Parvati presented a divine Modak to Lord Shiva Ganesha. He is also called ‘Modapriya’ or the lover of Modaks. The dumplings stuffed with jaggery and sweet coconut are a delicacy. A visitor at Mount Kailash gifted a Modak to Parvati who in turn gave it to her sons and asked them to divide it amongst themselves. Both did not want to do that. Parvati then gave them a test. The test to circle the world thrice and the fastest would claim the delicious sweet. Kartik set off to circle the world, but clever Ganesha circled his parents thrice. This showed that they meant the world to him. Overwhelmed by his gesture, Parvati gave him the Modak. Since then the Modak has been associated with Ganesha.
Variety of Modaks
A variety of modaks, steamed and fried are offered to Ganesha on Ganesh Chaturthi and I decided to offer chocolaty ones. Ganesha is a real foodie and loves His food. “Chocolate Modak” is delicious. It is instant and looks marvellous. Chocolate Modak is a very interesting, easy and no cook recipe which kids and adults will relish.
We all love chocolate and if you want to try other chocolate recipes of mine, try these Double Chocolate Muffins, Whole Wheat Pudding, or this yummy Oreo-Rosogulls pudding.
