Green Moong Ki Khichdi Recipe with Kale

Ingredients
  

  • 100 grams cup whole green soaked for 1 hour sabut moong
  • 1 cup kale shredded (you can even use spinach or palak
  • 2 cups Rice soaked
  • 5 tbsp Ghee
  • 4 pieces cloves
  • 4 green cardamoms
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • tsp ¼turmeric powder
  • 2 green chillies
  • 4 cups diluted Buttermilk
  • 4 cloves Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger finely chopped

Instructions
 

  • Heat 2 teaspoon ghee in a pan. Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and cumin seeds and let seeds crackle.
  • Add the sabut moong dal and saute for a couple of minutes.
  • Add the rice, turmeric powder, salt and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Now add the chopped kale leaves. Stir well and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Don’t forget to add the slit green chillies and mix well.
  • Transfer to a pressure cooker and add the buttermilk. Stir to mix everything, cover and pressure cook on high heat for 2 whistles.
  • Lower the heat and cook further for 2-3 whistles.
  • Switch off the heat and open the cooker lid only when the steam has been let out.
  • Open the lid and mix well.
  • In a pan heat 2 tablespoons ghee and add the garlic and ginger. Sauté till garlic and ginger are well browned.
  • Pour this over the cooked khichdi and mix well. Drizzle some more ghee while serving. Serve Sabut Moong Ki Khichdi with Kale Recipe super-hot.

Notes

You can add spinach instead of kale
