How to Spend a Lazy Day: Peace, Paneer, and Playlists

Lazy days are my guilty pleasure. How to Spend a Lazy Day: Peace, Paneer, and Playlists is my simple, delicious formula for slowing down and savouring life’s soft moments. No alarms. No deadlines. Just me, my thoughts, and my Caravan radio tuned to romantic retro melodies. I may be 61, but I still believe that music keeps you timeless. Each song from Kishore or Lata feels like an echo from a gentler world — one that still knows how to pause and smile. Don’t you write me off as ancient? I do listen to Sanju Rathod or Aditya Rikhari as well.
The Soundtrack of Stillness

On my do-nothing days, melodies become my morning mantra. Old songs don’t rush; they wrap around you like nostalgia with a heartbeat.
I’m a diehard romantic, so love songs are my caffeine. My Caravan radio plays softly in the background while I hum along, off-key but full of emotion. Sometimes I dance with the mop, sometimes I lie back and listen to the world hum outside my window. That’s the beauty of knowing how to spend a lazy day – it’s not about doing less, it’s about feeling more.
Old songs know how to hold you gently – no noise, no bass drops, no existential crisis- just lyrics that say what your heart’s been whispering all along.
Like Kishore da crooning “Kuch toh log kahenge…”, and me thinking — haan bhai, kehte rehte hain, kehne do! . I’m too busy humming to care. Some days feel like “Rimjhim gire saawan,” others like “Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna hai.” Either way, my playlist gets me more than people do!
Paneer Bhurji & Peace of Mind

If my playlist feeds my soul, paneer bhurji feeds the rest of me. Being a vegetarian Punjabi means I’ve been smothered in paneer for ages – it’s almost a love language.
Paneer bhurji is my lazy-day favourite. Simple, forgiving, and ready in ten minutes. Because honestly, aaj kuch productive karne ka mood nahi hai. Just crumble, stir, and vibe – “Yeh dil na hota bechara” playing in the background while the bhurji sizzles away. Quick, comforting, and foolproof. I crumble, sauté, stir, and before I know it, the aroma of sautéed tomatoes and chillies fills my kitchen.
My daughter Esha loves it too. When she’s home, it’s the one dish that vanishes before I can even plate it. There’s something magical about a simple recipe that doesn’t demand effort but rewards you with warmth. They say you are what you eat – no wonder I’m soft, comforting, and a little high-maintenance like paneer. Bas thoda pyaar daal do, aur sab swadisht ban jaata hai.
The Art of Doing Absolutely Nothing

Here’s a secret: lazy days aren’t a waste of time – they’re a quiet investment in peace.
I don’t scroll endlessly; I soul-scroll. Retro songs > Instagram reels, any day. I watch the ceiling fan spin, listen to the birds, the rustle of leaves, and sip my iced tea. These are the moments where I feel most alive. I water my plants, hum along to timeless songs, and remind myself that joy doesn’t always come with a to-do list.
Lazy days aren’t about wasting time – they’re about samay ko thoda tham jaane do!
The world can hustle; I’d rather hum “Yeh shaam mastani” with a cup of chamomile tea and pretend deadlines don’t exist.
Final Thought: A Recipe for Slow Joy

If you’re wondering how to spend a lazy day, try my three-ingredient formula: Peace, Paneer, Playlists.-Repeat! Add a pinch of music, a dash of flavour, and let the day simmer gently. Because sometimes, doing absolutely nothing is the most beautiful way to refill your heart.
Life doesn’t always need to move fast to feel full. Sometimes, it just needs rhythm – the sizzle of bhurji, the hum of an old song, the whisper of silence. Kabhi kabhi bas yunhi baith jao, bina reason ke smile karo, aur dil ko thoda sa rest do.
So if you ever catch me lost in thought, music in the air, and a spoon in hand – don’t disturb me..”Kuch na kaho, kuch bhi na kaho”. I’m busy doing absolutely nothing… beautifully.
