What’s restricting you from getting improved strength, immunity, and overall health?
There has been a prolific need to build upon our inner strength or immunity. These are very trying times and we have to step up our physical strength as well. What’s restricting you from getting improved strength, immunity, and overall health? For the immune system to perform well, it demands balance and harmony. Firstly, I think I have been very complacent about my health. And I had to pay a heavy price for that. Secondly, out of the blue I was diagnosed with high BP. Being casual about my health was no longer going to work. I realized I had to make major lifestyle changes if I had to enhance my immunity and get physically fit.
Being complacent, I thought my diet was fine but I had to enrich it with Ensure, a scientifically formulated nutritional supplement for aging adults. If you think, you are aging like me, focussing on getting a balanced diet is a must to keep fit. My chief goal now is getting improved strength, immunity, and overall health.
What’s restricting you from getting improved strength, immunity, and overall health?
For instance, practice yoga and pranayama every day and I thought I was doing my bit. Additionally, I added regular walks to my routine as well. Any exercise increases heart health, lowers blood pressure, keeps a check on body weight, and above all shields against diseases. For instance, exercise plus a healthy diet is the sure-shot formula to a healthy immune system and a strong you.
But recently, I got to know that my muscles are aging faster than my mind.
This state of muscle health leads to loss of strength and reduction in the natural immunity of the body. If you do not exercise regularly, you cannot reduce the damaging effects of the aging system or increase your fitness. (1) Comprehensive nutrition is needed to support immunity for forestalling infections i.e. internal strength and physical vitality for a hearty life i.e. external strength.
Various ways to strengthen your immune system (2)
- Make exercise a way of life.
- Do not smoke.
- Include fruits and vegetables in your diet.
- Monitor your weight.
- Consume alcohol in moderation.
- Have restful sleep.
- Avoid infection by washing your hands frequently, fresh produce as well and cook all meats comprehensively.
- Decrease stress by practising yoga, pranayama and meditation.
- Add supplements like Ensure to #EnsureStrongerInsideOut.
What’s restricting you from getting improved strength, immunity, and overall health?
Due to recommended social distancing, you may have to avoid gyms or exercise outdoors but do not lead a sedentary lifestyle. Start in your comfort zone and do home-based exercise.
There are a plethora of exercise videos you can follow online. Most of them are free on YouTube. Choose whatever you prefer: yoga, aerobics, tai-chi, Zumba, or Pilates.
Take a walk even if it is indoors. Walk in the shape of figure 8. During a walk in this shape, our whole body is twisted and all our organs are stimulated. There are numerous benefits of this walk. (3)
If you’re able, climb up and downstairs for aerobic exercise. Or you can do squats, crunches, and planks. But make sure you don’t overdo it too!
What’s your favorite way of exercising?
