Women’s Intuition: My 7th Sense

I for intuition

This post is for Blogchatter’s A2Z Challenge – I is for Women’s Intuition. They call it a sixth sense. I have gone one better. Women’s intuition, in my experience, is the 7th sense, sharper, quieter, and far more reliable than logic alone. I read a room in seconds. I read people in minutes. Moreover, once that quiet inner knowing speaks, I have learned to listen.

This was not always the case. For a long time, I had the gift and had no idea how to use it. Or worse, I overrode it entirely. This is the story of how I stopped doing that.

My 7th Sense is Strong

Some People Feel. Some Simply Don’t.

There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who feel deeply, picking up on energy, on undercurrents, on the thing nobody said but everyone sensed. And then some walk through life seemingly untouched. Dense, you might say. Emotionally unavailable. Switched off.

I have always been firmly, sometimes inconveniently, in the first camp. Emotional. Empathetic to a fault. Sitting across from someone, I already know what they are not telling me. Discomfort registers. Insincerity registers. Something is off, even when the surface appears perfectly calm.

In fact, this gift tends to live more freely in women. Men, God bless them, are often splendidly oblivious. Women are wired differently, to notice, to feel, to know. Science agrees: women consistently score higher on empathy, emotional recognition, and social perception. Not a stereotype. Simply, how many of us are beautifully built?

My Father’s Wisdom Had a Blind Spot

My Father's Wisdom

My father was a man of quiet wisdom. His most enduring lesson: there is good in every person, and that is what one should look for. I absorbed this completely. Trusted freely. Gave generously of my time, my loyalty, my heart.

What nobody told me: seeing the good in others and protecting yourself are not the same thing. They can coexist, but only when you are paying attention. For too long, I was not. Too open, too trusting, too willing to believe the best. As a result, it backfired—more than once.

Loss changed me. The kind of loss that strips everything down to what is real. In the years that followed the most difficult chapter of my life, something shifted quietly inside me. Grief burns away the inessential. What remained was clearer, steadier, and far less willing to be fooled. My women’s intuition, always present, sharpened into something I can only call a 7th sense.

People, Places, Energy: I Simply Know

Women. are blessed with Intuition

Walking into a room today, I feel it instantly. The energy of a space hits me first. Then, the intention behind a smile. A gap between what someone says and what they mean never escapes me. Within minutes of meeting a person, something in me has already arrived at a verdict. Not a thought. A knowing. Whether warmth is real or performed. Whether I am safe or need to step back quietly.

For this reason, I no longer second-guess. That is the real shift. For years, I overrode my gut feeling with logic, with generosity, with my father’s beautiful lesson about seeing the good. Now I hold both truths. Seeing the good in someone and trusting that this particular person is not for me are not in conflict. They never were.

The Greatest Proof: Raising My Daughter

Raising my Daughter

For evidence that women’s intuition is real and powerful, look no further than motherhood. I raised my daughter in the pre-Internet era. No parenting blogs, no expert reels, no algorithm to consult. No guidance for when your child had a fever at midnight or went quiet in a way that did not feel right.

Only instinct. My instinct. Followed without apology, without a second opinion, without a single video for reassurance.

Above all, I am proud of how my daughter turned out. Looking at how children are raised today, with every resource imaginable at their parents’ fingertips, her upbringing holds up beautifully. Not because I had more knowledge. Because I had something no algorithm can replicate: a mother’s gut feeling, alive and awake and unerring.

Are You Listening to Yours?

Women's Intuition is Sharp

Women’s intuition is not mystical. It is the accumulated wisdom of a thousand small observations, held in the body before the mind catches up. Pattern recognition so deep it feels like magic. Years of watching, feeling, absorbing, and finally, finally, trusting what you already know.

If you feel deeply, if you sense things before they happen, if you know without knowing how, please do not let anyone dismiss that as imagination or anxiety or oversensitivity. Claiming this gift took me far too long.

Your gut feeling is not wrong. Stop talking yourself out of it.

So tell me, do you trust your women’s intuition? Or are you still waiting for proof of what you already know?
