10 Ways Youth Can Use Social Media to Endorse Mental Health

Give the same importance to mental health that is given to physical health. Physical health gives us the mobility to move, work and play. Mental health makes us capable of handling our emotions and facing the trials and tribulations of life head-on. While there is a lot of awareness about physical health, the same is lacking for Mental health. Taking cognizance of the grey areas about Mental Health, the mindful youth of today should dispel the myths and throw light on the topic. Here are 10 Ways Youth Can Use Social Media to Endorse Mental Health.
These days, the media focuses and highlights only negativity and disastrous events that take place. In such a scenario, it is genuinely correct to say that it’s time to scatter the Mental health terminology and make it a trending topic.
10 Ways Youth Can Use Social Media to Endorse Mental Health
Today’s youth are endorsing products they may never use on Insta or tweeting about making the world a global village. They can swap gossipy discussions about celebs and reel-life heroes, rumour-mongering and jingoism with candid conversations about fundamental issues such as mental health.
Implausible technology has empowered the youth of today, and it is essential that they use it constructively. And what better platform than social media to promote mental health, categorically?
10 ways Youth Can Use Social Media to Endorse Mental Health

4. Share Your Story
If you are a go-getter and your life is inspirational, share your extraordinary life experiences. 5. End the Stigma, Talk About Mental Health

Kick-start open dialogues on mental health. Championing the cause would lead to cushioning breaking points. We still consider Mental health as shameful and as a weakness. You can discuss how we can lead sound and stable lives which your peers could relate with.
6. Broadcast Positivity Over Negativity

The outcome of positive emotions leads to an expansive gamut of thoughts and actions. They evoke a desire to be happy and playful. Growing in all areas leads to a sense of growth and well-being. 7. Don’t be Judgmental
Judgement nowadays can be toxic, especially on Social media. Refrain from criticising behaviour, looks, dressing sense or even the choice of food. Every choice you make on social media affects others greatly. Instead of being critical, support others online. Polarize your thoughts as your negativity can affect the mental health of others in a detrimental way.
8. Spread Cyberkindness

Done uses technology to be a cyberbully and stalk, intimidate, shame, or target others to abuse them socially or mentally. Spread #Cyberkindness to love, encourage, help, make a difference, strengthen emotionally or uplift mentally to make life easier.

These are some great ideas, Harjeet!
I totally agree with all the points you’ve shared Harjeet… esp. sharing your story/blogging. From experience I know that sharing stories can be a very powerful tool to get the attention of people. Many good life coaches always have a story to share and that’s how the audience relates to them. I also like the part about educating ourselves. Through your blogs and many others’ I have learnt a great deal on mental health.
The points you shared is really helpful and I believe will educate many of us about the right way of using social media for mental health endorsement.
All the points are so good and easy to put into practice.
Getting youth to talk about mental health on social media isn’t easy but if they do they’re sure going to make a huge difference. Good tips!
Your tips are really helpful. Social media does have both positive and negative impact. It gives confidence too and sometimes affect on a mental health too. But if youth use these tips and share positively it will definitely increase the mental health awareness.
Harjeet thanks for shedding the light on Mental Health. I agree about bringing awareness, educating oneself, spreading positive vibes, non-judgmental acceptance and coming out with your story to inspire others.
This is definitely needed to be put into daily schedule, metal health is hardly spoken about that why I really salute for bringing this up.
Your posts are always so beautiful, Harjeet. Social media gets a bad name but it can be used for better things too. I agree with every point you shared.
I agree with all your points, Harjeet, and I would like to add that if you don’t do any of the aforementioned things, you should at least try using your social media handle to promote a friend’s business or blog.
Great tips Harjeetji! I recently saw your post on Twitter for self care and I loved it. I totally agree with you that we should spread more cyberkindness and positivity through our posts.
Your post is a breath of fresh air. Excellent tips as always. Social media is a mess these days, particularly for mental health. We need more people endorsing mental health instead of doing a number on it.
Great points you’ve highlighted! This actually has been my goal on my SM but more focused on women specifically mothers though. I truly believe SM has a great potential if only used on a positive note.
Very interesting and well-compiled post, Harjeet 🙂
These are some great points. SM has a notorious reputation for spoiling mental health. I , on the other hand draw inspiration from SM. I also try to inspire people in a positive way through my Instagram posts.
I have a mental health section too on my blog and yes I agree with you as I do the same.
Very informative post and apt for today’s time. Loved reading this one.
Great tips Harjeet! I hope more people take them seriously.
