Ganpati Bappa Moriya

Ganesh Modak Moulds

Coconut & Shrikhand Modak Recipes

Ganesh Chaturthi festivities are incomplete without Ganesh Modak Moulds, Lord Ganpati’s much-loved sweetmeat, the modak. Modaks are Indian dumplings, a special treat to the adorable elephant God and his devotees. Ganesh Modak Moulds are available everywhere and it has become so easy to make Coconut & Shrikhand Modak Recipes, now.

Why do we offer Modak to Ganesha?

According to Hindu mythology, modak is supposed to be Lord Ganesha’s favourite, thus his moniker, Modakpriya (One who likes modak). Celebrated at length across Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa and other parts of India,  observe the 10-day long celebrations as Ganesh’s birthday.

The festival has devotees offering the deity several sweets and savouries, amongst which modaks are the most preferred prasad, especially in Maharashtra. As per the sacraments, we offer 21 modaks to the generous God which is ultimately served to the devotees. Traditionally, Modaks are steamed or fried dumplings made from rice or wheat flour, and have fillings including grated coconut and jaggery. Steamed modaks known as Ukadiche Modak and doused in hot ghee before savouring it.

But these days, Ganesha has moved with the times and Modaks too are being made with Oreo’s, Chocolate and Shrikhand. I have tried out shrikhand and coconut Modaks for a change. You can make Modaks of your own choice of flavours and ingredients.

Coconut Modak Recipe

The Coconut modak recipe is a No-cook, instant modak made with dry coconut and condensed milk and stuffed with chocolate like a Choco lava cake.

I often eat coconut barfi after a meal as a sweet dish but never tried modak stuffed with chocolate.

The first recipe looks easy to make. Even I can try this in no time because this is very handy.

Dry coconut, vanilla and stuffed with chocolate at last.
