Oven Roasted Peanuts Recipe

Oven Roasted Masala peanuts

Oven Roasted Peanuts Recipe with minimum oil but maximum taste. Kids and grownups alike, love roasted peanuts and if they are healthy and crunchy, it would be an added boon. Masala Peanuts are usually fried but these are just oven roasted. Peanuts are available easily and are not very expensive either. In addition to being everyone’s favourite snack, peanuts pack an awesome nutritional punch and provide a variety of health benefits. I am nutty about peanuts. and go nuts when I see a vendor selling boiled peanuts. I have to buy them and I eat them even while driving. Peanuts are very addictive and the hand keeps moving towards them on their own, but too much of anything is bad, so moderation is the key.

Peanut diets have shown that this little legume is a big ally for a healthy heart. Peanuts feature an array of other nutrients that have been shown to promote heart health. Peanuts are good sources of vitamin E, niacin, folate, protein and manganese. Surprisingly, research shows these tasty legumes (yes peanuts are not nuts) are also as rich in antioxidants as many fruits. Roasted peanuts challenge the antioxidant content of blackberries and strawberries, and are richer in antioxidants than apples or carrots. Roasting boosts their overall antioxidant content

Benefits of Peanuts

To lower your risk of cardiovascular and coronary heart disease, eat a handful of peanuts. Enjoy a handful of lightly roasted nuts as a healthy snack. During the winter months in North India, you will find roasted peanuts in most homes and they are eaten with a bite of Jaggery or Gur. Roasted peanuts give warmth in the cold winter days. In south India, we get boiled peanuts as they are said to be cooling in the hot season here. Even in Guadalajara, Mexico, I found a vendor selling boiled peanuts and I was so thrilled; something similar to home in that alien country.

I remember years ago, in a movie theatre in my husband’s hometown, I could hear the vendors selling something in baskets. They were crying out “Timepass” instead of peanuts! I burst out laughing but when you think about it, it is a healthy time pass snack instead of popcorn. When the movie got over I saw small mounds of peanut shells beside every seat.

About Peanuts

Peanuts grow in a very interesting manner. They start out as an above-ground flower that, due to its heavyweight, bends towards the ground. The flower ultimately burrows underground, which is where the peanut really develops. If you do not like eating peanuts as a snack then sprinkle peanuts onto tossed salads, add them to upma, poha or to healthy sautéed chicken and vegetables.

Did u know eating peanuts each day can help with your heart health?

If you eat peanuts every day you get protein, vitamins, minerals, and more! Peanuts have more protein than any nut containing more than 30 essential vitamins and minerals and are a good source of fibre and good fats.

Did u know why peanuts are served with Alcohol?

The best accompaniment with alcohol; peanuts are the yin to beer’s yang. Pairing them together strikes the right balance of flavours, textures and tasting notes for the ultimate in food experiences. It’s a comforting combination that elicits a sense of nostalgia and joy. Always better to have a plateful of oven-roasted peanuts rather than fried, isn’t it?

Masala peanuts are usually fried and loaded with calories but is very tasty. I cannot afford to pack more calories on my already large frame, but I wanted to snack on those crunchy peanuts. So,I came up with the idea of roasting them in the oven and they turned out just awesome. Now whenever I want to snack, I have a handful of guilt-free peanuts.

I really enjoyed this article as I love peanuts and the terrific nutritional “punch” that they have! I also like to add them into my nutri bullet when blending up a juice.

I have had first hand experience of your love for the boiled variety!! And now I’ve learnt that u wash and drain the nuts first to get that besan to coat evenly!! That’s quite a lot this little nut packs in nutritive content:))
