Eating and drinking particular foods during hot weather helps cool you down so let’s explore summer eating to beat the heat. What’s the secret to creating the perfect texture for this pretty-to-drink mocktail? Fresh watermelon juice+Taati Munjalu or Palm fruit or Ice Apple. In my home state, Andhra Pradesh the fruit is called Taati Munjalu. This fruit needs to be skinned and the pulp is jelly-like and delicious. Taati Munjalu or Palm Fruit can be used to make Ice creams, desserts, and juices but I like sliding the smooth, watery fruit in my mouth and when the flesh breaks taste the water which is like nectar from the Gods.

Ice Apple cools your body naturally and is rich in Vitamins A, B-complex and C.The pulp of the fruit can be used as a face pack and to cool inflamed skin. I think with my mom’s magic summer drinks and eating plenty of fresh palm fruit, we kept our bodies cool without any air-conditioning. Because of its cooling properties, Palm fruit works well on acidity, constipation, and gets rid of obnoxious prickly heat too. When buying palm fruit always make sure that the fruit is tender, it should not be punctured as the water will leak out if it is and it is no fun eating an Ice apple without its sweet nectar in the centre.

Watermelon & Ice Apple Mocktail is very cooling and it is surely a much better alternative to grabbing a soda pop. When the mercury is soaring, you can cool down in a healthier way by concocting your own summer drinks at home!

The best way to maintain your cool in the summer months is to make sure your body is properly hydrated and sparkling water can do most of the magic, nothing else; so drink up! I have noticed that drinking homemade drinks makes me feel lighter, less bloated and puffy and I handle the dreadfully hot weather better.

Any fresh, sweet fruit or fruit juices will provide nutrition and keep the body cool. As I already shared- fresh sugarcane juice, Aam Panna, Gond katira, Roohafza or a Virgin Mango Mohito. are very beneficial. By having at least one of these a couple of times a day, you will notice an incredible difference in how you react to the high temperature.

Watermelon Benefits

Watermelons can quench thirst while boosting your body with antioxidant lycopene and vitamin-A. They are dripping with all things you need to beat the scorching summer heat. Wonderfully delicious and juicy melons are the great source of much-needed water and electrolytes to tame hot, summer temperatures. Naturally when two cooling fruits come together they are going to pack a punch.
