Zesty Guava and Mint Chutney

Zesty Guava chutney with Mango puri

Z, the last letter of the alphabet is Zesty Guava and Mint Chutney for the last post of BlogchtterA2Z2023. Whoever thought of Guava and Mint Chutney or Dip must have been a diehard foodie. A sweet and zesty chutney with guavas, lemon, chillies and fresh mint, this Chutney is another way to consume the magnificent yet humble guava. A dash of lime juice, and green chillies along with the fruit’s natural sweetness make this chutney a delectable dip.

Fresh Guava from my Garden

Organic Guava

I have never liked apples, but Guava has been one of my favourite fruits. We do not not give it due credit. The guava tree in my backyard is small but yields humongous fruit and they cut like a coconut; crisp and sweet. Guava is the super fruit of the new age, because of many health benefits it offers. It is brimming with nutrients, is extraordinarily rich in vitamin C, and is beneficial for the skin. Mint is an all-time favourite and growing wild in my garden. The taste is much more enhanced with fresh organic produce from my garden.

This Guava Chutney is very simple to make. There is no cooking or tempering needed; just put all the ingredients together and blend them in a mixer-grinder.

The sweet guava, when combined with Mint along with a squeeze of lime, gives the chutney a remarkable and refreshing flavour, while the green chillies make it spicy.

Ingredients for Zesty Guava and Mint Chutney

4 guavas cut into small pieces

10 green chillies

A handful of fresh mint leaves

Salt to taste. I added black salt

Juice of one lime

METHOD:

Grind all ingredients in a blender and add lemon juice and serve.

There is no need to even deseed the guavas, just chop it along with the seeds. You can enjoy this exotic and flavorful Guava Chutney with fritters, or as I did with Mango Puri and Mango Paratha.

I love guavas too and although guava ki sabzi was a routine in our home I haven’t tried it in a chutney. Easy recipe and would probably be crunchy too. Perfect with puris!

Oh, this looks so tempting. I haven’t heard of this guava mint chutney before but can’t resist making it now. I don’t like to eat guava as a whole fruit, it’s texture doesn’t suit my tastebuds. But, I like its smell and taste so I have it in the juice form or as grated in mixed salad. Now, I will try it in the chutney form. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Harjeet.
