The Beauty of Chikankari Embroidery

House-of-chikankari

Lately, I had the pleasure of draping myself in The Beauty of Chikankari Embroidery. I bought two charming kurtas from The House of Chikankari. As a lover of beautifully handcrafted garments, I am drawn to the delicate artistry of Chikankari. It embellishes different fabrics, including cotton, chanderi, muslin, georgette, silk, and more. Summer is here and these light mulmul kurtas are the best way to keep cool.

I chose a lavender, mulmul chikankari printed kurta, to stay chic and cool this summer. It’s super comfy and stylish, as the fabric is soft and breathable. Plus, it has a lovely printed design that adds a touch of elegance. Grab yours now for a classy summer look!

I couldn’t stop at one. I also got myself a sky blue, modal chikankari long kurta. It’s made from luxurious modal fabric, perfect for summer. This essential piece flaunts intricate chikankari embroidery. It has a flattering straight silhouette and 3/4th sleeves. It has a round neck and sophisticated design and exudes class and sophistication.

Origins of Chikankari

Chikankari embroidery, with its understated yet luxurious appeal, has a devoted following. Originating in Lucknow, India, its intricate white thread work characterizes this traditional embroidery. It was available only on fine muslin fabric, creating timeless patterns and designs. We can trace its origins to the Mughal era. Chikankari embroidery has become a symbol of Lucknow’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship.

Chikankari work has always fascinated me. My introduction to Chilankari was at an early age when I was bought a Chikankari Kurta, and I simply loved it. Chikankari fabrics are so elegant and also high on comfort, and more so during harsh summers.

I’ve always loved chikankari work. It’s very difficult to do by hand, but nowadays, I think they do some by machine as well. Your lavender kurta is looking fab, so beautifully summery. I like the chikankari palazzos as well, they are truly classy.

I love Chikankari embroidery for its elegant look. I have tons of Chikankari kurtas and I think the hand made ones are far better than the machine made ones. Somehow, I prefer the embroidery on pastel shades of same shade ones.
