Rise with Determination

I am participating in #BLOGCHATTERA2Z YEAR 2025 & Blogging from A to Z Challenge ! At one time when quitting felt like the only way out. Life had drained me, and every setback chipped away at my confidence. But I now realise that determination isn’t just about pushing forward—it’s about choosing to Rise with Determination, even when everything seems stacked against you.

When Everything Falls Apart

Failure doesn’t arrive quietly. It crashes in like a storm, shaking your confidence and making the idea of bouncing back feel impossible. It brings doubt, guilt, and fear—emotions that can leave you feeling stuck.
Many people deal with failure by pretending it never mattered or convincing themselves they never wanted success in the first place. Psychologists call this the “sour-grape effect”—where we downplay something we once worked hard for just to make failure hurt less. Others use the “ostrich effect,” burying their heads in the sand instead of learning from their mistakes. But ignoring setbacks only traps us in a cycle of repeating them. I’ve been there—frustrated, stuck, unable to move forward.
And yet, failure holds a hidden advantage. Research in the Journal of Applied Psychology shows that those who face setbacks often develop a growth mindset, learning to adapt and improve. A Harvard Business Review study found that entrepreneurs who failed early were likelier to succeed later. The takeaway? Failure isn’t the end—it’s a stepping stone.
True determination isn’t about avoiding setbacks. It’s about what you do when you’re at your lowest. The moment everything falls apart is the same moment you get to decide: Will I stay down, or will I rise stronger?
Small Steps Build Strength

When life feels overwhelming, the best way forward is through small, steady actions. Research shows that nearly 40% of our daily behaviour is shaped by habits—which means our routines hold the power to build resilience.
Set the Tone with a Morning Routine
Successful people often start their day with purpose. Some avoid alarm clocks to wake up more naturally, while others make hydration their priority. Exercise, mindfulness, and intentional planning can clear the mind and strengthen emotional resilience. I have never used an alarm. I always drink two glasses of warm cumin tea in the morning.
Celebrate Small Wins
Even the tiniest victories matter. Science proves that small achievements trigger motivation, reinforcing positive habits and making progress feel natural instead of forced.
Break Big Goals into Micro-Tasks
Overwhelmed by a huge goal? Start with just the next step. This approach makes challenges feel less intimidating and helps you build momentum without getting discouraged.
Consistency Over Perfection
Missing a day isn’t failure—giving up is. Progress isn’t about flawless execution; it’s about sticking with your habits, even when they don’t go perfectly. Surrounding yourself with motivated people can also make a huge difference.

When Determination Meets Opportunity
Breakthroughs happen when persistence meets the right moment. Success isn’t about luck- it’s about recognising opportunity within adversity.
Even in difficult times, opportunities exist. The key is perspective. One person sees failure; another sees a lesson. The most successful people don’t wait for luck—they prepare for the moment when the right opportunity presents itself. My glass is always half full. I try to fill it up all the time. When it overflows, I share my experiences.
Research shows that those who embrace challenges develop stronger coping skills and adaptability. Smart risk-taking plays a role, too- those who take calculated risks build resilience over time. As Friedrich Nietzsche said, “That which does not destroy me makes me stronger.” Challenges aren’t roadblocks—they’re stepping stones.
Final Thoughts on ‘Rise with Determination’
Some of life’s greatest achievements are born from the hardest moments. Determination isn’t just about pushing through difficulties—it’s about how we respond to them.
Every tough situation offers a choice: stay stuck or grow stronger. Research proves that people who develop resilience gain long-term coping skills that help them navigate future challenges.
Instead of getting lost in big, overwhelming goals, I’ve learned to focus on small wins. Setbacks aren’t permanent. They’re just pauses, not full stops. The key is to keep moving forward, no matter how slow progress seems.
If you’re struggling, remember: your current challenges might be shaping you for something incredible ahead. Keep growing, and trust that your determination will guide you exactly where you need to be.

The A2Z List
I love the clarity of your article. Consistency and determination are key factors in working on being better versions of ourselves.
Thanks, Marietta. It has been my dogged consistency to get me where I am today.
“Missing a day isn’t failure—giving up is” this sentence resonates with me. I have long since struggled with my weight, but then I realised it is just one parameter of health. I am more active than quite a few of my friends, have no life-style diseases and do an hour of workout every single day. The only thing that has kept me motivated during workouts is that I will not give up, I can reduce the time or intensity, but I have to workout every single day. And that has made all the difference.
Kudos to you for articulating your thoughts with such clarity
Thanks, Harshita. Kudos to you for accepting yourself as you are. You are enough!
Every point you make is a lesson in itself. You sound like our yoga teacher 😊. Though to be fair, you have had a huge pile of pitfalls which you have used as stepping stones towards progress. Like they say you can “use the stones thrown at you to build a strong foundation” or let the stones hurt you. I’ve witnessed your DETERMINATION to overcome against all odds. Bravo!
Thanks, Kalpana. You have seen my journey, and there were no stones but solid rocks 🙂
