Self-Discovery: Mapping My Unique Path

There’s no GPS for life after loss. No neat, mapped-out route that tells you what comes next. When my world changed, I didn’t just lose loved ones. I lost the version of myself that existed with them. What followed wasn’t a breakdown. It was a breakthrough that slowly led me down the road of self-discovery. For years, I wore many hats—daughter, wife, mother, worker. Each role came with love, responsibility, and joy. But somewhere along the way, I forgot to ask: who am I, apart from the roles I play? Here is how Self-Discovery: Mapping My Unique Path, came about.
Losing My Way to Find Myself
After my husband passed away and my children moved out, I found myself alone in our family villa. The silence was deafening. But within that silence, a question echoed: What do I want now?
It was uncomfortable. I had spent so long pouring myself into others, I didn’t know how to turn that energy inward. But gradually, I began to explore the parts of me I had shelved. I started writing again, cooking with joy, and travelling with curiosity. I rediscovered my voice-not just as a woman, but as a person who had more to offer the world.
From Roles to Realness
Being a mother is a part of me. So is being a grandmother. But these are just chapters in a much bigger story. Through my blog, I began sharing that story. The real one. The one with fear and courage, grief and growth, mistakes and milestones.
I realised that self-discovery isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about returning to yourself—the version of you that existed before the world told you who to be.

What Self-Discovery Looks Like for Me
- Cooking meals that feed my soul, not just my family
- Travelling solo and with friends, eyes wide open
- Writing stories that carry truth, not perfection
- Saying no without guilt, and yes without fear
- Reclaiming dreams I had long put on pause
Self-discovery has no deadline. It has no rules. It can be quiet and slow. Or bold and bright. The only thing it needs is your willingness to listen to yourself.

The Ongoing Journey
Even now, I’m still uncovering pieces of who I am. That’s the beauty of this path- it doesn’t end. But the road to self-discovery wasn’t paved with ease. It came after years of navigating uncertainty and reinventing myself through necessity.
Self-Discovery: Mapping My Unique Path
Self-discovery, I’ve learned, is about resilience. It’s not a single moment of clarity, but a series of pivots, lessons, and silent victories. My path may not follow a straight line- but it’s entirely, unapologetically, mine.. That’s the beauty of this path. It doesn’t end. Every stage of life offers a new layer to explore.
I no longer wait for someone to validate who I am. I don’t chase labels. I create space for growth, for joy, for truth. My path may not look like anyone else’s- but that’s exactly what makes it mine.
