Kitty Party Games & Busting Kitty Myths

Stars in Bhutan

In the realm of social gatherings, “kitty parties” are often associated with trivial gossip and competitive card games. However, the group I belong to breaks away from these stereotypes. Our exclusive group of 22 women came into existence 42 years ago. We do not gather for idle chatter or play card games with alcohol. Let me share Kitty Party Games & Busting Kitty Myths

Star Kitty & My Stars*****

Star Kitty Members

Welcome to Stars, our unique kitty party where we challenge traditional norms. We foster an environment where we enrich our minds. Our gatherings involve lively Housie and word games like crosswords, puzzles, quizzes, and sudoku.

Our parties are different and bring our girl gang closer through shared interests and intellectual activities. We adhere to strict rules, ensuring punctuality, fair hosting, and respectful discourse. We thoughtfully plan every detail, from Tambola ticket arrangements to meal servings and group activities, to ensure an enjoyable experience for all members.

However, it’s not always smooth sailing. Our games spark lively debates. However, once the party ends, we forget about these lively debates as soon as we walk out.

Playing the perfect host

Join me as I share a glimpse into our intellectual kitty parties, where laughter, learning, and camaraderie thrive.

Here are the strict rules for our kitty parties:

1. Punctuality is key; 12 noon is the start time.

2. Latecomers pay a fine of 2 rupees per minute after 12.

3. Absentees pay a fine of 100 rupees.

4. Parties can be hosted at home, club, or hotel.

5. Fixed servings for drinks, soup, starters, main course, and desserts.

6. Host selection is random through chits.

7. Absentees must reimburse the hostess or lose hosting privileges.

8. No discussions on politics, religion, or controversial topics.

9. Tambola tickets are arranged by the hostess, and each member pays.

10. Tambola ticket price: 100 rupees for 6 tickets.

11. Hostess decides on individual or group games.

12. Starters and mocktails are served first, followed by the main course.

13. Special dessert shared by hostess and guests.

14. Ladies are divided into 3-4 groups.

15. Five games played, with custom creations; most wins determine the winner.

16. Hostess organizes cash prizes or gifts with a set budget.

17. Tea is served upon request.

18. The party concludes at 3:30 pm.

19. Annual vacation, alternating between India and abroad.

20. New member inclusion via democratic vote.

For me kitty party is something reserved for High class women only and I don’t know what exactly they do. But after reading your post I feel it is very exciting. I like your printable. You have rules that every one should be involved. I really liked it Jeet.

You have a latecomer fee! That’s discipline. I feel your kitty party group is enterprising–regular meets and travels. That’s good going. I like your mind boosting games too.

In our society there are countless Kitty’s going on and few call it also committee where money is also involved. I was also invited my many groups to be a part of their kitty but I never showed interest as somehow the concept is not at all appealing to me. They also play such games, follow a particular dress code, food, dance and most importantly gossip. I really dont have time for all these and I better use it in something fruitful. That is altogether my personal opinion about kitty. But those who like it must be a part of it and that’s their way of spending time.

What a delightful and fun post to read and virtually experience. I loved the rules and all that your kitty party is made up of, right from food to group regulations. I am a part of teh so called kitty-group, but since we all have young kiddos we prefer meeting out, away from family for a much needed me time.

Wow Harjeet… so amazing! It’s a blessing to have an engagement like this. You all travelled to Bhutan? I remember that place with 108 stupas on the way to Punakha.
I love all your games… so interesting and the types that sharpen your mind. In the first one I didnt know #11 and my last answer was ‘dad’.
We used to have a kitty group too but after covid we just didn’t re-start. After seeing your pics, I miss it all the more. Btw, I really like the idea of the fines… it makes so much sense.😄

Your post reminded me of the Ladies Club meets in the army where we played a lot of games. Great memories. The kitties I am a part of now are more like get-togethers. My favorite is our cousin kitty where I am one of the younger members.

I urge you to watch this show called ‘Gullak’ on SonyLiv, specifically S2E2. Your post strongly reminded me of that episode. Because the narrator talks about how these Kitty parties are more than what we make of them. It was such a heartfelt narrative and portrayal that it changed my own perspective towards kitties.
Coming to your post, I’m in awe of how well-organized everything is. The rules made me go, ”Wow! There’s so much to learn from these!” Also, the games are so much fun. You made me play while reading. So that’s a win for sure! Thank you for imparting wisdom while also giving me some entertainment in the form of the games.

These Holi party game suggestions are absolutely amazing! I’ve never had the opportunity to attend a Holi Kitty gathering myself and that definitely because I am not part of any kitty :(. The only Holi bindaaz memory I have is from my hostel days, where my friends and I went wild with colors but didn’t engage in any organized games. It sounds like you have an incredible time with your friends. I would love to be a part of such a festive gathering and experience this level of enjoyment firsthand. Holi is such a vibrant and joyous festival, and I can only imagine the laughter and camaraderie that comes with playing these games. Count me in for the next celebration—you can bet I’ll be ready to join in the fun and make unforgettable memories with your awesome crew! Another memory I had with my neighbourhood friends in my society, we went completely mad that day with fun, color, guijiya and what not.
