holi snack recipe | crispy aloo bonda with dosa batter
Instructions
  1. boil the potatoes and grate them. keep aside.
  2. heat a pan and add the oil to it.
  3. firstly add the chana dal then the cumin. once cumin splutters add the mustard seeds. then throw in the curry leaves.
  4. now add the chopped onions and saute until they turn pink
  5. add all the seasonings-red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  6. next, add the grated or mashed potatoes and give it a quick stir.
  7. finally garnish with the coriander leaves.
  8. remove from flame and set aside. after it cools down make smooth medium sized balls out of this mixture and set aside.
  9. heat oil in a frying pan for deep frying the bondas.
  10. the oil needs to get just hot not smoky hot.
  11. pour the dosa batter in a shallow bowl and add little salt and cumin to it.
  12. the dosa batter should be thick and not watery.
  13. now dip the potato balls in the dosa batter and roll the ball gently in the batter to coat it evenly.
  14. then slide the balls gently into the hot oil and fry until the bondas turn golden.
  15. once done, transfer them on to a paper towel to drain off the excess oil.
  16. crispy aloo bonda with dosa batter|holi snack are ready to be served. serve with coconut chutney, pudina tomato chutney or sauce of your choice.
Recipe Notes

1. the dosa batter should be thick.

2. don’t let the oil reach smoking point.

3. avoid the red chilli powder for kids and elders.
